Liners
So, I've got a backpack. I also have a backpack liner. I thought backpacks didn't need to be lined. Not being, y'know, fine art. But there is a whole waterproof issue to deal with so, okay, I accept the value of the liner. Even though I quite understand it.
I've just bought a new sleeping bag. It comes with a sleeping bag liner. Once again, I furrow my brow a little. Okay, sure, there's all sorts of sleeping/easier to clean/pretty colours type reasoning behind the marketing and production of said items. But isn't a sleeping bag, at its most basic level, pretty much a big liner?
And then there are the liners within the liners: little bags I've put stuff in so it doesn't get lost in the mammoth recesses of the liner stuffed inside the backpack... Liners within liners! I just don't know where to go to get away from them! And they're going to be there all year. Sitting on my back, all within each other and waterproofing each others' lining!...
I need to leave the country.

sleeping bag liners are there for the same reason as people put sheets under a duvet. I wouldn't use them, except for when it gets too hot for the actual sleeping bag!
Have a fantastic time :D
See, now, I can understand the reasoning on using a liner *instead* of a sleeping bag in a hot climate. All the rest of it just makes my head hurt.
T minus, uh, three and a bit days before I'm on the flight flicking through the movies!
You got a good liner for yourself yet?
I find that skin often just doesn't cut it.
I think this travelling idea is just a bad one, you should come back to bristol we have no liners here except the ss great britain.

A backpack liner? Hmmm... while I do posess all the other aforementioned 'liners', (I could hold up 3 or 4 little round bundles containing waterproof jacket (body liner), sleeping bag liner, and travel towel (wet body liner)) I have yet to find a backpack liner that works as cheaply and well as a good old black plastic bag. Plus you have something fo your laundry on the way back...
First day of travels Phil... all the best!!
